Head coach of Olympic Club Safi, Zakaria Aboub, has stressed his outfit will strive to make Morocco proud in the CAF Confederation Cup, as the team gears up for the final round of group stage games.
The Moroccan outfit will take on Algeria powerhouse, USM Alger on Saturday at the July 5 Stadium in a highly competitive clash, with victory crucial to secure top spot in the group.
Speaking to Hesport, Aboub expressed his strong desire to return with three points from Algeria, while reiterating his outfit desire to make Morocco proud in the competition.
“There are no formalities in football. We must always strive to be at our best to do Moroccan football proud.”
“It’s true that when you’ve already qualified, the pressure is less, but all the players know that we are determined to win and qualify for the quarterfinals as group leaders.”
“I hope we will perform at the required level against USM Alger. Our goal is to go far in the competition to honor the city of Safi and this historic club. Moroccan clubs always aim to win continental titles, and that’s what we strive for at Olympique Safi.”
Both teams enter the match having already secured qualification for the quarterfinals, making this a direct confrontation to determine the group winner and finish the group stage in first place.
The Safi Sharks had entered a short, closed training camp in Casablanca, which included two training sessions over two days, before traveling to Algeria today.
