AS Otohô coach Sekou Seck is confident his team can make an impact in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals, despite facing a formidable opponent.
The Congolese side will take on Egyptian giants Zamalek in the last eight of the tournament.
After the draw, Seck acknowledged Zamalek’s strength, saying, “Zamalek is a very great team, they deserve a lot of respect, and they have performed well in the tournament so far, they are indeed candidates to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
“But although Zamalek are favourites to reach the semi-finals, we also have a great chance to advance and achieve a positive result against this great team, and we will certainly try to do so.”
However, he insisted Otohô will not be intimidated.
“At this high level of the tournament, there are no weak teams; everyone will be at a good level, and therefore, all matches will be difficult.”
He praised his players’ efforts in the group stage, noting, “In any case, we performed well in the group stage, the players gave a great performance, and we are waiting for the Zamalek match in the quarter-finals of the tournament.”
The first leg of the quarter-finals is set for Sunday, March 15, with the return leg scheduled for March 22.
Zamalek finished top of Group D with 11 points, just ahead of Al-Masry, ensuring both sides advanced to the knockout stage.
