The quarter-final of the CAF Confederation Cup was finalised on Sunday, with USM Alger, OC Safi, Zamalek and CR Belouizdad advancing into the semi-finals.

At the end of an intense round of fixtures, Zamalek stood as Egypt’s only remaining representative, edging past Otoho d’Oyo with a 3-2 aggregate victory after a 1-1 draw away from home and a 2-1 win in Cairo.

Their progression came after earlier eliminations for domestic rivals Al Ahly, Pyramids, and Al Masry.

USM Alger booked their spot in the last four on the away goals rule following a narrow 1-0 home victory over Maniema Union, with the tie ending 2-2 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Olympique de Safi delivered one of the biggest upsets of the round, knocking out Wydad AC in an all-Moroccan clash that finished 3-3 on aggregate after a 1-1 first leg and a 2-2 draw in the return fixture.

Attention now turns to the semi-finals, where USM Alger will face Olympique de Safi, while Zamalek are set for a high-stakes encounter against Algerian heavyweights CR Belouizdad as the race for continental glory intensifies.

The four remaining clubs will fancy their chances in the next round of the competition, hoping to make it to the final to make a club for the enviable continental prize.
