San Pedro Keeper Kouassi Landry Ulrich has shared his disappointment following their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
The Ivorian outfits’ elimination was confirmed following back-to-back defeats against Moroccan side Olympic Club Safi in the third and fourth rounds of Group A. the two consecutive defeats proved decisive, leaving San Pedro rooted at the bottom of the standings and unable to mount a late push for qualification.
As they take on USM Alger in the penultimate group stage clash, Kouassi Landry has expressed his disappointment in the teams’ inability to reach the quarterfinal of the competition but insisted the journey itself had been valuable for the club’s long-term development
“Reaching the group stage has been a great experience for the whole team. We are disappointed to miss out on the quarter-finals but happy with the experience we have gained for our progress. I was absent for a few months but I think all the other players did the job,” said Kouassi Landry Ulrich.
The shot-stopper’s comments reflect the broader sentiment at the club, which sees the Confederation Cup adventure as an important step in FC San Pedro’s continental growth. Having tested themselves against experienced opposition from across Africa, the Ivorians will now look to apply those lessons in future campaigns.
