CAF Confederation Cup: Salim Seba urges focus as CR Belouizdad prepare for decisive second leg in Cairo against Zamalek
CR Belouizdad interim coach Salim Seba has expressed cautious optimism ahead of his side’s decisive CAF Confederation Cup second-leg clash at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday evening, 17 April.
With a place in the next stage of the continental competition on the line, Seba acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge awaiting his team in Egypt, stressing the need for discipline, concentration and tactical balance against a well-organised opponent.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Seba underlined that the tie remains open and that his squad is prepared to fight for every moment on the pitch.
He noted that playing away in Cairo presents one of the toughest assignments in African club football, but insisted that CR Belouizdad have travelled with belief and determination to secure a positive result.
“I have been with CR Belouizdad for seven years, and whenever the club needs me, I will answer the call. We played a good match and created several scoring opportunities, but we wasted them. That’s football. We lost the first leg, but God willing, we will turn the tie around in Egypt and win. We will prepare well for the return match.”
The Algerian side will be looking to produce a strong performance under pressure as they aim to overturn or protect their position from the first leg, depending on the aggregate situation going into the return match.
Seba is expected to rely on a compact structure, with emphasis on defensive solidity and quick transitions, as CR Belouizdad target a result that could see them progress further in the competition.
The match kicks off on Friday evening at the Cairo International Stadium, with both sides aware that fine margins could decide who advances to the next round.
