CAF Confederation Cup: FC MK Qualifies for Last 16 After Draw Against Etoile du Congo
FC MK of DR Congo has booked its place in the last 16 of the CAF Confederation Cup, following a 1-1 draw against Etoile du Congo on Friday at the Tata Raphaël Stadium in Kinshasa. The result, combined with their 2-1 victory in the first leg, ensured the Kinshasa-based club’s progression on aggregate.
After the match, coach Bruno Bla praised his young squad’s resilience against a well-organized opponent.
“A good Etoile team that physically and technically mastered all aspects of the game. They put us in a dilemma: attack or defend,” he told Radio Okapi. “The main thing is that we are qualified. Not everything is perfect, but this qualification is deserved over the two matches.”
With this result, Etanchéité FC MK will now face Sudan’s Al-Ahly Shandy in the next round of the competition. While Bla admitted unfamiliarity with the Sudanese side, he expressed determination:
“I don’t know them, but we are in Africa – it’s the highest level. We have to be ready for anything. We will go there with the spirit of doing better.”
The next round promises to be another test for the young Congolese team as they aim to continue their continental journey.
