Moroccan side OC Safi are through to the knockout stage of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation after defeating FC San Pédro on Sunday night to move to second in Group A.
Salaheddine Errahouli set the tone midway through the first half with a composed finish in the 30th minute, giving the hosts a deserved lead. OC Safi were not dominant throughout the contest, but their disciplined approach and efficiency proved decisive as they recorded a third win from four group matches.
A solid defensive display laid the foundation for the breakthrough, with Les Requins capitalising on a swift counter-attack. After regaining possession deep in their own half, OC Safi surged forward, catching the San Pédro defence off guard.
Goalkeeper Kombo Kouassi rushed out to intercept a pass played in behind, but could only divert the ball into the path of Errahouli, who curled a precise effort off the post and into the net.
San Pédro attempted to respond with increased attacking intent and enjoyed periods of pressure, yet clear chances were hard to come by.
Their best opportunity arrived in the 56th minute when Lancine Dosso found space on the edge of the area, only to see his powerful strike crash against the post with goalkeeper Hamza Hamiani beaten.
The closing stages produced late drama but did little to alter the outcome. Senegalese forward Moussa Koné delivered a moment of brilliance in the 89th minute, reacting sharply to a looping cross from the left to execute a stunning overhead kick that effectively put the contest beyond reach.
San Pédro managed to grab a consolation goal in stoppage time, but it proved too late to threaten OC Safi’s progress.
Koné’s spectacular strike stood as the decisive moment on the night, ensuring OC Safi advanced to the quarterfinals. The Moroccan side are now level on nine points with Group A leaders USM Alger and will turn their attention to pushing for top spot when they host bottom-placed Djoliba next weekend.
