The head coach of Wydad Athletic Club, Mohamed Amine Benhachem, has taken a key decision regarding their preparations as the team gears up for its decisive African Confederation Cup group stage encounter against Tanzania’s Azam FC.
The coach has scheduled the players’ return to training for Thursday as part of the build-up to the sixth and final round fixture. The session marks the start of final preparations for a match that will determine the club’s qualification hopes in the competition.
The Red Club’s players were initially expected to resume training on Wednesday. However, logistical delays linked to the team’s return to Morocco forced a postponement of the training programme.
Wydad are set to host Azam FC next Sunday at the Mohammed V Stadium, with kick-off fixed for 2 pm. The timing of the fixture is in line with CAF regulations, which require all final group stage matches to be played simultaneously.
The scheduling was also influenced by the fact that the Congolese side Maniema, who will face Kenyan outfit Nairobi United, do not have a stadium equipped with floodlights.
As a result, the Confederation of African Football opted for an early kick-off to ensure uniformity across the group’s decisive fixtures.
