USM Alger head coach Lamine N’Diaye has sounded a note of caution ahead of his side’s CAF Confederation Cup first-leg clash against Egyptian heavyweights Zamalek SC, describing them as one of the most dangerous teams on the continent at present.

The Algerian side will host the Egyptian giants at the Stade 5 Juillet 1962 with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 GMT.

Speaking to CAF Media, N’Diaye highlighted the strong form and consistency of the Cairo-based club, particularly their performances away from home and their progress in continental competitions.

“Zamalek are in very good form, and they may win the Egyptian league, something that has not happened for a long time,” N’Diaye said.

“I do not remember how many years it has been since they won the Egyptian league. They really are a very strong team. We saw that in their run through the continental competition.”

He added that Zamalek’s ability to secure results on the road makes them a particularly difficult opponent to prepare for, stressing the need for full concentration from his squad.

“They often win away from home or achieve very good results. We are on alert and we will try to make sure things go well for us,” he noted.

The Algerian side are now finalising preparations for what is expected to be a tightly contested first leg, with both teams eyeing an advantage ahead of the return fixture next weekend.
