Zamalek head coach Moatamed Gamal praised his team’s resilience following their 2-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs in the final group stage match of the CAF Confederation Cup. The win secured the White Knights the top spot in Group D on Saturday evening.

Reflecting on the contest, Gamal acknowledged the challenge posed by a well-prepared opponent.

“The game was extremely tough, and I warned the players beforehand, particularly since Kaizer Chiefs had analyzed our recent league match against Smouha,” Gamal told reporters, according to Ysscores.

“We were determined to give our best, even against an opponent that had the advantage of more rest than us.”

Gamal also highlighted key tactical decisions that contributed to the win.

“Bezera stepped into the playmaker role in Abdullah Al-Saeed’s absence during the last two matches and delivered an outstanding performance. We also implemented a rotation strategy: Ahmed Sherif didn’t start against Smouha but featured today, and we fielded seven new players in the previous league fixture.”

The coach expressed gratitude for the fans’ unwavering support.

“The happiest moment for me was hearing the Zamalek supporters cheer for me. Their support lifts my spirits, especially when I feel low,” he added.
