Kaizer Chiefs captain Neil Tovey is anticipating a very tough test against Zamalek in the final round of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage clash.
In a highly competitive clash this weekend, the Egyptian giants will play host to the South African outfit at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium on Saturday, a match that could decide the winner of Group D.
Zamalek’s qualification suffered a setback at the weekend after Zambian powerhouse pulled off a major upset to defeat the Egyptian club to record their first win in the group.
Kaizer Chiefs, on the other side, had achieved a 2-1 victory over Al Masry to go top of their group ahead of the final round of games.
Despite acknowledging the difficult in playing Zamalek in Egypt, Tovey insists his outfit can pull off a surprise in the North African country.
“Chiefs do have a chance of finishing top of Group D, but Zamalek in Egypt are going to be very, very difficult,” Neil Tovey tells KickOff.
“We’ve got to be careful and not try to go there and defend, but at the same time, they must be careful and very organised at the back. It’s a hard process, but it’s something that you need to manage. The Confederation Cup is never easy.”
Zamalek currently occupies second place in the Confederation Cup group standings with 8 points, two points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs and one point behind Al Masry in third place.
