In a notable update ahead of the 2025 CAF Confederation Cup final, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the second leg between Tanzania’s Simba SC and Morocco’s RS Berkane will now be held at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar, instead of the original venue in Dar es Salaam.
The decisive match is scheduled for May 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM GMT.
CAF’s decision came after technical evaluations determined that the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam was unsuitable for hosting the final, particularly amid the current rainy season.
Despite commending the Tanzanian Football Federation for their efforts, CAF emphasized that the move was essential to ensure top-quality playing conditions and an exceptional experience for fans and players alike.
Simba are already familiar with Amaan Stadium, having used it during their semi-final clash with Stellenbosch FC due to ongoing renovations in Dar es Salaam.
Their route to the final showcased their defensive tenacity and resolve.
Berkane, under the leadership of Tunisian coach Moine Chaabani, secured their place in the final by defeating Algeria’s CS Constantine with a convincing aggregate scoreline, bolstered by a dominant 4-0 home victory.
The Moroccan club, previous winners of the competition in 2020 and 2022, brings considerable experience and structure to the contest.
With seasoned players like Munir El Kajoui, Youssouf Dayo, and Ayoub Khairi in their ranks, Berkane are targeting a third continental crown.
However, they face a determined Simba side eager to triumph on home soil – despite the change in venue.
With both teams poised for a fierce contest, African football fans can look forward to an electrifying climax to this year’s Confederation Cup.
The first leg of the final tie takes place at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
