Tanzanian giants, Simba SC, put up a determined performance on Sunday afternoon to secure a narrow 1-0 victory against South African outfit Stellenbosch in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The two teams locked horns in Tanzania today in the first leg of their tie in the CAF inter-club competition.
In the game played at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, both teams showed intent to score and set up strong with their starting lineups for the game.
Despite the efforts of both teams, only one goal was scored, and it was enough to give the hosts a first-leg advantage.
The only goal of the match was scored by Jean Charles Ahoua in the injury time of the first half.
Although Stellenbosch created chances in the reverse fixture, the team could not come back into the match and had to succumb to the narrow defeat at full time.
The result means Stellenbosch have a big task ahead heading into the reverse fixture.
Simba SC, despite the advantage, must go to South Africa next week to fight throughout the 90 minutes to stand a chance of advancing to the final.
