Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko, will face Wydad Casablanca in the final playoff of the preliminary round in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors advanced with a 5-3 aggregate victory, following up their 4-3 first-leg win in Kumasi with a disciplined 1-0 triumph in Abeokuta on Sunday. Hubert Gyau’s decisive strike ensured Kotoko’s passage to the final playoff stage of the preliminaries.

Their reward is a meeting with Wydad, one of Africa’s most decorated clubs. The Casablanca side, three-time winners of the CAF Champions League and participants in this year’s expanded FIFA Club World Cup, bring pedigree and experience into the tie.

Kotoko, themselves twice crowned African champions, are chasing their first Confederation Cup title and will look to rise to the occasion against elite opposition.

The first leg will be played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, with the return fixture scheduled for Morocco in October.

With both clubs boasting history and quality, the encounter promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the competition.
