Al Masry coach Nabil Kouki has warned that their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup clash against Zamalek on Sunday will be a stern test, given the quality of the opposition and the high stakes involved in the race for the quarter-finals.
Speaking at a press conference at the new Suez Stadium, Kouki underlined the importance of securing three points, noting that the current stage of the competition leaves no room for errors.
“Zamalek is a top team with quality players in every position. The match will be very challenging, and mental focus will be key in deciding the outcome,” he said.
The Tunisian coach also pointed out that the two sides are now familiar with each other’s strategies after their goalless draw in the previous round, which he said makes the upcoming encounter even tougher by reducing the element of surprise.
Addressing squad management, Kouki revealed that a rotation policy has been necessary due to the combined pressures of domestic and continental competitions.
He added that the winter transfer window reinforcements have provided new tactical options to help the team cope with the demanding schedule.
Kouki concluded by stressing the value of every point at this stage of Group D, praising Zamalek’s quality, and calling for heightened focus and effort to secure a positive result and maintain Al Masry’s position at the top of the group.
