The Confederation of African Football has appointed a South African officiating team to handle Raja Casablanca’s crucial Champions League encounter against Tanzania’s Young Africans in the fifth round of the group stage.

Raja Casablanca are set to host the Tanzanian side at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Saturday, February 7, in a fixture that could prove decisive in the race for qualification to the next round of the competition.

CAF has entrusted match duties to South African referee Tom Abongele, who will be assisted by Zakhele Thusi Siwela and Souru Phatsoane of Lesotho. Writselsitswe David Molise has been named as the fourth official for the encounter.

The appointment comes as Raja look to build on recent momentum in the competition.

The Moroccan giants revived their qualification hopes with a narrow 1-0 victory over Algerian side JS Kabylie at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, a result that has put them back in contention heading into the decisive stages of the group phase.

With qualification at stake, all eyes will be on Rabat as Raja Casablanca aim to secure another positive result under the watch of the South African-led refereeing team.
