Esperance de Tunis kicked off their CAF Champions League group stage campaign in impressive fashion, delivering a dominant 4-0 victory over Mali’s Djoliba at Stade Olympique de Rades on Tuesday evening.
The Tunisian side wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Raed Bouchniba taking advantage of a goalkeeper error to open the scoring in the second minute. Although they missed an opportunity to double their lead in the 35th minute, Esperance’s persistence paid off five minutes later when Elyes Mokwana found the net, assisted by a brilliant pass from Youcef Belaili.
In the second half, Esperance continued to control the match, keeping up the pressure for more goals. Their relentless attack was rewarded in the 76th minute when Oussama Bouguerra extended their lead. The icing on the cake came in stoppage time when young Kossai Macha sealed the 4-0 victory with a well-placed finish.
This comprehensive win saw Esperance claim their first three points of the group stage, placing them second in Group D, just behind Egypt’s Pyramids FC, who defeated Angola’s Sagrada Esperança 5-1 in their opener.
Esperance will now look to maintain their momentum as they continue their quest for success in the Champions League.
