In the Champions League semi-finals, Wydad Casablanca is set to face South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in a highly anticipated rematch following their two group stage encounters. The match is currently scheduled for Friday, April 27, but reports from Moroccan outlet sport.le360.ma indicate it could be postponed by one or two days at the request of the South African side.
According to the report, Sundowns requested the change due to their domestic league commitments. Despite the tight schedule, they played Chippa United on Tuesday, winning 3-2, and are set to fly to Rabat on Wednesday evening to face Wydad.
Mamelodi Sundowns are competing on two fronts, balancing Champions League fixtures with a challenging domestic league campaign. They are currently tied for second place in the South African league with Orlando Pirates, both on 50 points, closely followed by Bivest Wits with 44 points, making scheduling adjustments necessary for the semi-final clash.
