CAF Champions League: Tickets sold out as Mamelodi Sundowns and AS FAR set for high-stakes final first leg in Tshwane

Tickets for the first leg of the CAF Champions League final between Mamelodi Sundowns and AS FAR have officially been sold out, underscoring the huge anticipation surrounding one of African football’s most prestigious fixtures.

The encounter brings together two former champions of the continent’s premier club competition, both with history and ambition driving their pursuit of continental glory.

Sundowns, champions in 2016, are chasing a second title to further cement their growing dominance in African club football. AS FAR, meanwhile, are aiming to end a 41-year wait for the trophy, having last lifted it in 1985.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe recently confirmed that the winners of the CAF Champions League will receive USD 6 million, marking a 50 percent increase in prize money.

The opening leg will be staged in Tshwane, South Africa, on Sunday, 17 May 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 local time (14:00 GMT).
