CAF Champions League: Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC reach group stage with 4-1 aggregate win over Police FC
Sudanese powerhouse Al Hilal SC have sealed qualification to the group stage of the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League after defeating Kenya Police FC 3-1 in the second leg on Friday to complete a 4-1 aggregate victory.
The match was played at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi, Libya, where Nigerian striker Sunday Adetunji put Al Hilal ahead in the 37th minute to give his side a first-half advantage.
Kenya Police FC drew level in the 55th minute through Erick Zakayo, but Al Hilal quickly restored their lead when Adetunji struck again just nine minutes later. In stoppage time, Ahmed Salem added the third to seal a commanding win and secure Al Hilal’s spot in the group stage.
In other fixtures, Uganda’s Vipers SC were eliminated after a 1-1 draw against Power Dynamos in Ndola, Zambia, falling short with a 3-2 aggregate loss.
Moses Shumah opened the scoring for the Zambian side in the 68th minute before Karim Watambala equalised late on, but the Ugandan club could not find the winning goal needed to advance.
Elsewhere, Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC and Simba SC will be in action over the weekend as they aim to overturn first-leg deficits and join Al Hilal in the group stage.
