CAF Champions League: Rivers United coach Finidi George confident ahead of RS Berkane clash
Head coach of Rivers United Finidi George has expressed optimism about his outfit chances ahead of their game against RS Berkane in the CAF Champions League.
The much-anticipated Group A clash between Rivers United and RS Berkane has been scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Nigeria on Friday, November 28, 2025, with both teams seeking for victory.
After a rocky start to the tournament, George is determined that the mistakes from their previous outing in Cairo will not be repeated.
The Pride of Rivers are under pressure to deliver a strong response after a disappointing start to their group-stage campaign, which saw them fall 3–0 to defending champions Pyramids FC of Egypt.
The defeat has increased the urgency for a positive performance as the former NPFL champions hunt for their first points of the competition.
In a statement to CAFonline, Finidi acknowledged the weight of expectation but emphasized that his players are mentally ready to rise to the challenge.
“We owe it to our fans to rise up to the occasion and get a result against RS Berkane,” Finidi stated.
“We did well for 50 minutes against Pyramids and then lost concentration. We cannot afford to do that tomorrow (this Friday). We have the players that can get the job done, and I believe they will step up.”
While Rivers United seek for their first victory in the competition, RS Berkane will be hoping to extend their winning run after securing victory in their group opener last weekend.
