CAF Champions League: Pyramids beat Power Dynamos to stay neck and neck with RS Berkane
Pyramids earned a valuable 1-0 away win over Zambia’s Power Dynamos, keeping the CAF Champions League holders locked on six points with group leaders RS Berkane after two rounds.
The decisive moment came on 51 minutes when Mohamed Reda Bobo collected the ball on the edge of the area and drilled a low shot into the net, capping a controlled display from the Egyptian side in Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Pyramids started confidently, trying to dominate midfield and nearly took the lead in the first half when Maieli wasted a big chance, while their defence had to scramble clear a dangerous effort from Mulambia for the hosts. A long-range strike from Pyramids flashed over the bar before keeper Ahmed El Shenawy went off injured, forcing Mahmoud Gad to come on after 37 minutes.
The home side introduced forward Ronell Manyanga after the break to chase an equaliser, but Gad stood firm, making a key close-range save as Dynamos pushed forward. At the other end, Zalaka spurned two clear opportunities and substitute Ahmed Atef Qatta fired just wide of the post, as Pyramids missed chances to kill the game yet still saw out a professional away victory that keeps them firmly in the race for top spot in Group A.
