Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy says their ultimate objective is to snatch victory over Al Hilal in the return leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals clash.
The Egyptian powerhouse takes on the Sudanese giants in the second leg of the quarterfinals on Tuesday night in Mauritania, as both teams battle for a place in the semifinals.
The first leg clash held at the Cairo International stadium ended 1-0 in favour of Al Ahly. However, Al Hilal must overturn the scoreline to book a place in the semifinals.
Despite acknowledging Al Hilal’s quality, the Egyptian goalkeeper believes his side can emerge victorious in the match to progress.
“Al Hilal is a strong team with distinguished players, and they performed well in the group stage, but Al Ahly players are very focused on the match and have the experience to deal with such situations. Our main goal is to win,”
“In the first leg, we dominated the match. We had many chances and were only able to score one goal. Therefore, we are fully aware of the importance of tomorrow’s match and the necessity of winning it to qualify for the next round.”
“We are used to this atmosphere, and we went through similar situations last year.” he added.
