CAF Champions League: Modiba urges focus as Sundowns eye strong start in final first leg clash against AS FAR

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Aubrey Modiba has called for calm and concentration within the squad ahead of Sunday’s CAF Champions League final first leg against AS FAR in Pretoria, stressing that preparation has been smooth as the team prepares for one of the biggest fixtures of their season.

“Preparations have gone very well and we are focusing on Sunday’s game,” Modiba said.

He reflected on the significance of reaching another continental final, but insisted the players must keep their attention firmly on the task at hand rather than the occasion.

“God has granted us another Champions League final, for us it is to make sure we try to focus on the match.”

Sundowns head into the first leg aiming to build a strong foundation at home before the return fixture, with the squad aware that fine margins are likely to decide the two-legged showdown.

The Tshwane-based side will host AS FAR on Sunday, 17 May 2026, with kick-off set for 14h00 GMT.
