CAF Champions League: MC El Eulma Eye Redemption in All-Algerian Clash Against ES Sétif
An all-Algerian showdown takes center stage tonight as MC El Eulma hosts ES Sétif in the second matchday of the CAF Champions League group stage.
After suffering a 1-0 defeat to Al Merreikh on the opening day, El Eulma—recently relegated to Ligue 2—faces a must-win situation against the defending champions, ES Sétif. Despite their underdog status, the home side is determined to turn things around.
“This is a match we must win to preserve our chances of reaching the semi-finals,” said Khaled Bouzama, El Eulma’s defender, in an interview with El Watan. “The defeat against El Merreikh leaves us no other options. We must win against the reigning champion to stay in the race and, above all, prove that relegation to Ligue 2 is undeserved.”
Bouzama added that the team will benefit from the return of key players absent in their trip to Khartoum. “Morally and psychologically, we are ready. The support of our fans will be crucial. This match is already a turning point in our season,” he concluded.
Kick-off promises high tension as ES Sétif looks to affirm their dominance, while MC El Eulma fights to revive their continental hopes.
