MC Alger’s CAF Champions League game against FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo could be postponed due to bad weather in Algeria.

This comes after the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced that all football matches scheduled for this weekend have been postponed due to poor weather conditions in the North African country.

MC Alger are expected to take on Lupopo on Sunday, 1 February, in Algeria in matchday four of the CAF Champions League group stage.

FAF wrote in a statement on their official website that all matches in the country across all divisions have been postponed this week, although it was not specified whether this includes CAF matches.

The statement reads: “Following the special weather bulletin issued by the National Meteorological Office, the Algerian Football Federation announces the postponement of all matches scheduled for this weekend, across all categories and divisions, without exception.

“This decision takes effect immediately. The new dates for the postponed matches will be set later and communicated to the parties concerned by the various leagues.

“The Algerian Football Federation insists on the need for strict application of the content of this communiqué by all bodies and teams concerned.”

As things stand, neither MC Alger, Al Hilal, nor CAF have issued their own statements regarding this announcement.
