MC Alger coach Rulani Mokwena has set his sights on securing all three points when his side faces Mamelodi Sundowns, though he insists their fate hinges on Friday’s clash with Al Hilal SC.

Mokwena is under pressure to keep MC Alger’s CAF Champions League quarter-final hopes alive.

The Algerian outfit currently sits third in Group C with four points, heading into their penultimate group-stage fixture against Al Hilal on Friday night.

A win against the Sudanese side would leave MC Alger with a strong chance of claiming a decisive result in their final group match against Sundowns in South Africa next week.

Speaking at a Thursday press conference, Mokwena emphasized that a positive outcome against Al Hilal will demand resilience from his players, which will ultimately shape their approach to the Masandawana clash.

“We hope we can carry that spirit [of perseverance] and give ourselves a chance to qualify for the next round when we travel to South Africa.

“Otherwise, it would be nice to take the players on a nice safari.

“I don’t want to be taking the players to South Africa to go meet my family and friends.

“We want to go to South Africa to get three points. But whether or not we go for a safari or for three points depends on what we do tomorrow night,” he added.

MC Alger and Mamelodi Sundowns are scheduled to meet on Saturday, February 14.
