Moroccan side MAS de Fes will face defending African contenders Pyramids, Sudanese club Al Hilal and Guinea’s Horoya AC in Group D of the CAF Champions League.

The draw sets up a group-stage campaign featuring clubs from North, East and West Africa as they compete for places in the knockout rounds of the continent’s premier club competition.

MAS de Fes face continental challenge

Group D comprises four teams from different African football nations:

  • Pyramids
  • Al Hilal
  • Horoya AC
  • MAS de Fes

MAS de Fes will represent Morocco in the group, facing opposition from Egypt, Sudan and Guinea as the teams seek to advance to the next stage.

With six matches scheduled in the group phase, consistency will be important as each club looks to secure qualification for the knockout rounds.

Group stage to begin in November

The opening round of fixtures is scheduled for 27 to 29 November 2026, with matchday two taking place from 4 to 6 December.

The competition will then continue with the third round from 18 to 20 December before resuming in January 2027.

The final three rounds are scheduled for 8 to 10 January, 15 to 17 January and 22 to 24 January, when the group-stage campaign will conclude.

The schedule will require clubs to manage a demanding run of continental fixtures across November, December and January.

VAR confirmed for CAF club competitions

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that video assistant referee (VAR) technology will be used throughout the group stages of both the Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

The technology will provide match officials with additional assistance when reviewing key decisions during games.

The confirmation adds another significant element to the upcoming group-stage campaign, with clubs now able to intensify their preparations for the continental competition.
