Mamelodi Sundowns were forced to settle for a 2–2 home draw against Al Hilal Omdurman in a pulsating CAF Champions League Group C clash in Pretoria.

The result keeps Sundowns top of the section, but Al Hilal’s resilience earned them a valuable away point.

Al Hilal stunned the hosts when Abdelrazig Omer opened the scoring on 15 minutes, finishing a swift move to silence the crowd. Sundowns hit back quickly as Arthur Sales levelled in the 22nd minute after good work from Nuno Santos, sending the sides in 1–1 at the break.

The Brazilians upped the tempo after half time and turned the game around through Teboho Mokoena, who drilled them ahead 2–1 in the 64th minute from a Themba “Tashreeq” Matthews assist. Al Hilal, however, refused to fold and Omer struck again in the 71st minute, converting an Alioune Coulibaly pass for his brace and the final 2–2 scoreline.

Al Hilal finished with ten men after Emmanuel Flomo was sent off for violent conduct on 85 minutes, but the Sudanese side held out through seven minutes of stoppage time despite late Sundowns pressure and chances for Brayan Léon and Kutlwano Letlhaku. Player of the match Omer earned an 8.5 rating, while Mokoena and Sales were Sundowns’ standout performers.

In Group C, Sundowns remain first with Al Hilal second.
