Al Ahly head coach Jess Thorup has underlined his team’s readiness ahead of their decisive CAF Champions League clash against AS FAR.
The Egyptian champions will host the Moroccan side in their final Group B fixture on Sunday, with kick-off set for 16:00 GMT, as both teams eye a place in the knockout stages of the CAF Champions League.
Speaking ahead of the match, Thorup expressed his excitement about returning to home ground support. He noted that Sunday’s encounter will be Al Ahly’s third home game in the group stage and voiced his anticipation of strong backing from the club’s supporters.
Although Al Ahly have already secured qualification for the quarter-finals, Thorup stressed that winning remains the team’s objective in every match.
He acknowledged the challenge posed by the Moroccan visitors, pointing out that AS FAR are under pressure to secure a positive result to guarantee their own progression.
Thorup added that the team is determined not only to advance, but to finish top of the group, while also aiming for a third consecutive home victory in the group stage.
He described the upcoming contest as demanding, highlighting the quality and experience within the AS FAR squad.
The Al Ahly coach also revealed that he recently held talks with midfielder Imam Ashour, encouraging him to focus on the future and learn from past mistakes.
Thorup went on to praise the player’s overall performances in recent weeks, describing his contribution as consistently positive for the team.
