CAF Champions League: It will be a very tough game - Al Hilal coach Laurentiu Reghecampf ahead of quarterfinal clash with RS Berkane

Head coach of Al Hilal Omdurman, Laurentiu Reghecampf, has admitted his side faces a stern examination in their CAF Champions League quarter-final showdown against RS Berkane.

The Moroccan outfit will enjoy home advantage in the first leg before making the trip to Rwanda for the decisive return encounter against the Sudanese giants, who are currently based in Kigali.

Assessing the draw, Reghecampf brushed aside suggestions that his team had been paired with a favourable opponent. Instead, he stressed that the tie remains delicately poised.

“Every team has its chances,” Reghecampf insisted. “It will be a very tough game. I think we can consider it a tactical battle between two good teams.”

Al Hilal progressed to the last eight after finishing top of Group C, advancing alongside South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.

In the same group, MC Alger and FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo fell short of qualification.

Berkane, meanwhile, booked their quarter-final berth as runners-up in Group A, ending six points behind Egyptian side Pyramids FC.

The first leg fixtures are scheduled for the weekend of March 13–14, with the return matches set for March 20–21.

Awaiting the winner of the Al Hilal–Berkane tie in the semi-finals will be either Morocco’s AS FAR or defending champions Pyramids.
