CAF Champions League: Ibrahim Tanko confident Medeama are 100% ready for TP Mazembe

Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says his side are fully prepared for their CAF Champions League showdown against TP Mazembe despite their focus remaining on improving after Sunday’s Champion of Champions victory.

The Ghana Premier League champions began the new campaign on a positive note, defeating Nations FC 2-0 at the TNA Stadium to lift the 2026 Champion of Champions trophy.

Fatawu Sulemana opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Emmanuel Annor doubled the advantage with a composed lob after the break.

However, Tanko insists Medeama’s attention has already shifted to their continental assignment, with the Ghanaian champions set to host the Congolese giants in the first leg of their preliminary-round tie on Sunday, September 6.

“This is the last game to that game [against TP Mazembe]. [We’re] 100% [ready for the game]. There’s no problem [that I’m not celebrating]. I don’t think, what do you expect me to do? I mean, we won it, and like I said, our aim is next week,” Tanko said.

The Medeama boss believes the victory over Nations provides an opportunity to identify areas requiring improvement before the much bigger continental test.

“So definitely, we are going to look at the game today and then see where we have to be better. Definitely, I’m happy, but I don’t think I have to be shouting,” he added.

Medeama will hope their winning start gives them confidence as they prepare to face five-time African champions TP Mazembe at the TNA Stadium.
