Stade Malien head coach Mauril Njoya has exuded confidence ahead of his team’s CAF Champions League quarterfinal clash against Mamelodi Sundowns, insisting his side will not be intimidated by the South African giants.

“I tell myself we are a team that knows how to play against playable teams. That’s why I have no fear. I have no anxiety when it comes to qualifying for the semifinals,” Njoyo said.

The Malian coach went further, turning the narrative around on Sundowns.

“I admit that if I still need to say it, we are not afraid of anyone. I think this team [Sundowns] should be afraid of us because we play freely. We have no complexes, we play freely. They are afraid of losing. We are not afraid of anything and we will play our football as we have always done.”

Stade Malien will travel to Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane for the first leg on Friday, aiming to approach the match with confidence and tactical discipline.

Njoya’s bold words signal a fearless mindset, as his side looks to challenge one of Africa’s most decorated clubs on their home turf.

Meanwhile, Stade Malien, are yet to report injuries in their camp and they are expected to deploy their full-strength, fearless line-up focused on counter-threats from players like Taddeus Nkeng and Mamadou Traore.

With the return leg to follow on Malian soil, Stade Malien will hope to capitalize on their fearless approach and make a strong statement in the quarterfinals.
