CAF Champions League: FAR Rabat fan suffers multiple fractures after loss to Sundowns in final first leg clash in Loftus Versfeld

A FAR Rabat supporter who fell from the stands during the CAF Champions League final first leg in Pretoria has reportedly sustained fractures in four different parts of his body, the local media have reported.

The incident occurred at Loftus Versfeld Stadium last Sunday during a tense encounter between Mamelodi Sundowns and FAR Rabat, a match already marked by several disruptions on and off the pitch.

On the field, Sundowns edged the Moroccan side 1-0 to take a narrow advantage into the second leg of the final. The match was also briefly delayed due to VAR technical difficulties.

However, attention quickly shifted to events in the stands after a supporter fell from the upper tier and required urgent medical attention.

He was treated at the stadium before being transferred to a hospital in Pretoria.

Reports have emerged that the supporter, identified as Amin, suffered serious injuries, including fractures to his hand, shoulder, rib cage and arm. He is currently receiving specialised treatment due to the severity of his condition.

Reports also indicate that the Moroccan Embassy in South Africa is assisting with the situation, with discussions ongoing about a possible medical transfer back to Morocco using an aircraft equipped to handle his condition.

The second leg of the final is scheduled for Rabat on Sunday, May 24.
