In the final match of the African Champions League round of 16, postponed due to heavy rain in Tunis, Espérance faced Gor Mahia in a one-sided affair. The Blood and Gold were dominant throughout the match, securing a resounding 5-0 victory following their 3-2 win in the first leg in Kenya.
The standout performer of the match was Haythem Jouini, who netted a hat-trick with goals in the 42nd, 49th, and 57th minutes. Khaled Mouelhi had earlier missed a penalty for Espérance in the first half. Ghanaian player Harrison Afful also contributed to the celebration, while Idriss Mhirsi sealed the victory with another goal.
In the upcoming round of 16, Espérance will face AS Real de Bamako. The first leg is scheduled for the weekend of March 21-23, with the return leg set for March 28-30.
