CAF Champions League: Sétif Seek Redemption in Must-Win Clash Against MC El Eulma
El Eulma – Entente Sétif will look to reignite their CAF Champions League campaign this Saturday as they face fellow Algerian side MC El Eulma in a crucial Group B fixture at the Messaoud-Zeghar Stadium.
After a disappointing 2-1 defeat to USM Alger on Matchday 1, the reigning African champions find themselves under early pressure and in urgent need of a win to keep their title defence on track. With ambitions of maintaining their dominance on the continental stage, the Black Eagles know that another setback could severely dent their hopes of progression.
Sétif’s new signing, defender Farès Hachi, underlined the importance of the fixture, acknowledging both the high expectations of the supporters and the derby-like atmosphere expected against their Group B rivals.
“Although I am new to the team, I know that it will be a derby-like match against neighbours El Eulma, who, like all the other opponents in the group, are dreaming of defeating the reigning African champions,” Hachi told the Algerian Press Service (APS). The former Grenoble full-back also stressed the squad’s “determination to bring back all three points” and “erase the disappointment of the first match.”
MC El Eulma, who are also seeking their first points of the tournament, will not make it easy. Both teams head into this second-round fixture with their backs against the wall, knowing a positive result is crucial to avoid falling further behind in a competitive group.
With local bragging rights and Champions League survival on the line, Saturday’s encounter promises to be a high-stakes showdown between two desperate sides — each hoping to restore belief and momentum in their continental journey.
