The stage is set for another thrilling CAF Champions League campaign, with the draw handing Al Ahly and defending champions Pyramids FC a promising start to their quests for continental glory.
Pyramids FC, fresh from lifting their first title last season, will kick off their journey in Rwanda against Army in the opening preliminary round. The Egyptian side will be eager to make a statement early, as they seek to prove their triumph was no one-off.
Al Ahly, Africa’s most decorated club, will enter in the second preliminary round and take on the winner between Burundi champions Aigle Noir and Djibouti’s AS. The Red Devils will be confident of progressing, given their experience and pedigree in Africa’s elite competition.
The first preliminary round will be contested over two legs on September 19-21 and September 26-28. Winners advance to the second preliminary round, set for October 17-19 and October 24-26.
With Morocco’s RS Berkane also in the mix, fans can expect fierce battles ahead, but the draw has clearly set the tone for an exciting run for the North African giants.
