CAF Champions League: AS FAR goalie Tagnaouti targets positive result against Sundowns in final first leg
AS FAR goalkeeper Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti has projected calm confidence ahead of Sunday’s CAF Champions League final first leg against Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria, insisting the Moroccan side are focused on securing a strong result away from home before the decisive return leg in Rabat.
The experienced shot-stopper underlined AS FAR’s readiness for the occasion, stressing that the team’s approach is built on discipline, belief, and the ambition to bring a favourable outcome back to Morocco.
“We are well prepared for this final, and we came here to achieve a positive result,” Tagnaouti said.
“We want to return to Rabat with a good result and, God willing, win the title there.”
The Moroccan club heads into the first leg fully aware of the challenge posed by Sundowns on home soil, where the South African champions have traditionally been strong in continental competition.
However, AS FAR’s camp remains upbeat, banking on experience and tactical organisation to navigate the high-pressure encounter.
The first leg will be played on Sunday, 17 May 2026, in Tshwane, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 local time (14:00 GMT), before attention shifts to the return fixture in Rabat next weekend, where the continental title will ultimately be decided.
