Despite their efforts, Anges FC’s victory on Sunday against Enyimba International from Nigeria wasn’t enough to secure their advancement. Despite winning the match, they were defeated 1-3 in the first leg, meaning they needed to score two goals without conceding. Unfortunately, they were unable to complete the second part of the task.
Anges opened the scoring in the 32nd minute through Kodjo Laba, but shortly after returning from halftime, Abdoul Rahman Bashir capitalized on a defensive error to equalize for Enyimba. Despite Vincent Tchalla finding the net for Anges again with a quarter of an hour left to play, they couldn’t find the additional goals needed. Enyimba, who had previously complained about their treatment in Togo, ultimately emerged victorious.
Enyimba now advances to the next round and will face Malian side AS Real de Bamako, who secured victory against Moroccan side AS Far du Maroc on Saturday.
