The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that incidents that marred the CAF Champions League group-stage clash between Al Ahly and FAR Rabat have been referred to its Disciplinary Committee.

The encounter, played on Sunday in Cairo, ended goalless in the sixth and final round of the CAF Champions League group stage.

However, proceedings were temporarily halted after some Al Ahly supporters threw water bottles toward players of the Moroccan side.

In a statement issued on Monday, CAF strongly condemned the disturbances, describing the scenes as unacceptable.

The continental body said the matter has been officially forwarded to its Disciplinary Committee for investigation, with appropriate sanctions to be considered against those found responsible.

“The Confederation of African Football strongly condemns the unacceptable events that took place during the CAF Champions League match between Al Ahly of Egypt and FAR Rabat of Morocco in Cairo on Sunday, February 15, 2026.”

CAF reiterated its commitment to upholding safety and sportsmanship at its competitions.

Meanwhile, FAR Rabat have formally protested the conduct of sections of the home support and called for firm disciplinary measures to be imposed in response to the incident.
