Reigning African champions Al Ahly have reportedly been handed a significant boost ahead of their CAF Champions League semi-final second leg showdown against Mamelodi Sundowns this Friday.
The first leg, held at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria, ended in a tense goalless draw, with the Egyptian side successfully neutralizing the attacking threats of the South African champions.
In a promising update for Al Ahly, former Zamalek star Ahmed Hassan revealed that key forward Wissam Abu Ali is expected to be fit for the return leg in Cairo.
“A source in Al Ahly… Wissam Abu Ali will be medically ready for the return match against Sundowns next Friday,” Hassan posted on social media, as per Ysscores.
Although Abu Ali did not feature in the first leg, he traveled with the squad to Pretoria and participated in training sessions. The 26-year-old has been an instrumental figure for Al Ahly in their Champions League campaign, having scored four goals and provided one assist in nine appearances.
The highly anticipated second leg is set to be played at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday, with both sides vying for a place in the final.
