Head coach of Al Ahly Jess Thorup has expressed his disappointment following stalemate against FAR Rabat in the final round of the CAF Champions League group stage clash.
The highly-competitive clash, held at the Cairo International Stadium ended 0-0, as both teams struggled to find the back of the net.
The match was a tightly contested affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities but failing to find the back of the net in a match that showcased solid defending and cautious attacking.
With this draw, both teams have qualified to the quarterfinal of the CAF’s elite club competition.
While expressing delight about the massive turnout, the Danish tactician was left disappointed with the stalemate against FAR Rabat.
“This is the first time I’ve seen such a large number of Al Ahly fans in the stadium since I came here. The fans created a fantastic atmosphere comparable to the biggest European clubs with their songs and chants.”
“We created a lot of chances and the opponent didn’t have any chance, and we played well. What disappointed me was not winning after delivering such a great performance.”

Al Ahly secured top spot in Group B, accumulating 10 points, followed by FAR Rabat (9 points), with Young Africans and JS Kabylie finishing third and fourth respectively.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set February 17, 2026 for the Champions League quarterfinal draw.
