CAF Announces Hosts for Africa Cup of Nations 2019, 2021, and 2023
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the host nations for the next three Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments during a press conference held on Saturday at its headquarters in Addis Ababa.
Following the vote, Cameroon was selected to host the 2019 edition of the tournament, with Côte d’Ivoire chosen as the host for the 2021 competition. In a surprising decision, CAF also awarded the hosting rights for the 2023 AFCON to Guinea, marking their first time organising the prestigious continental event.
The announcement brings clarity to the future of Africa’s premier football festival, following a competitive bidding process that included several other candidate countries. CAF’s choice reflects a balance of experience and emerging football markets within the continent.
