The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the list of nominees for the African Young Player of the Year award, highlighting the continent’s brightest emerging talents. A total of 16 players are in contention, representing some of the most promising stars in African football today.
Among the nominees, Krépin Diatta and Ismaila Sarr stand out for their performances with Senegal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Both players played key roles in their national team’s campaign, showcasing speed, technical ability, and maturity beyond their years.
Other notable nominees include Victor Osimhen of Nigeria, a young striker making waves in Europe with his pace and goal-scoring instincts; Moussa Djenepo of Mali, a dynamic winger known for his dribbling and creativity; and Achraf Hakimi of Morocco, who has impressed with his attacking contributions from the right-back position while maintaining defensive solidity.
The CAF tweet emphasized the competitiveness of the award, noting that 16 stars are battling to be named Africa’s best young talent.
