The quest for the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is set to resume with the exciting draw for the qualifiers on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in the vibrant city of Johannesburg, South Africa.
The highly anticipated draw will take place at the SuperSport studios, starting at 2:30pm local time (3:30pm Cairo time, 12:30pm GMT).
It will involve 48 nations, including the four successful teams from the preliminary round – Chad, Eswatini, Liberia, and South Sudan – who will be placed into 12 groups of four teams each, all vying for a coveted place in the finals.
Among the notable teams to participate in the draw are current African champions Cote d’Ivoire, along with Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, DR Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, and Ethiopia.
Other strong contenders include Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The qualifiers are set to kick off in September 2024 to determine the first 24 nations that will battle it out for a chance to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations, the most prestigious event in African sports, to be held in Morocco in 2025.
