The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has signed a landmark agreement with Royal Air Maroc, granting the Moroccan airline the status of Official Global Partner for its upcoming flagship competitions.
The deal represents a strategic shift that promises to benefit major African footballing nations such as Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Algeria.
Under the terms of this newly formalised partnership, Royal Air Maroc will provide comprehensive logistical and promotional support for a series of high-profile CAF events scheduled across 2024 and 2025.
The airline’s involvement will span several major tournaments, all of which are set to be hosted in Morocco.
Among the events covered by the agreement are the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, which is slated to run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, and the CAF TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place from 5 to 26 July 2025.
In addition, the CAF U-17 and U-20 Africa Cup of Nations for 2025, the finals of the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, as well as the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League, all fall under the scope of this partnership.
This collaboration significantly enhances Royal Air Maroc’s presence on both the continental and global sports stage. As the designated carrier, the airline is expected to play a key logistical role, ensuring smooth travel for participating teams, officials, and media personnel. It also positions Royal Air Maroc as an integral stakeholder in the organisation and execution of Africa’s top football competitions.
The agreement also underscores Morocco’s growing status as a central sporting destination in Africa. With the kingdom hosting a succession of CAF tournaments over the next two years, the partnership highlights the country’s infrastructure and capability in managing events of such magnitude.
The collaboration is seen as a continuation of Morocco’s increasing involvement in continental football, not only as a host nation but also as a key supporter of CAF’s broader objectives.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe has repeatedly emphasised the need for sustainable partnerships to elevate African football, and this deal with Royal Air Maroc appears to align closely with that vision.
By streamlining operations and improving access to key events, the partnership is expected to bolster CAF’s efforts to raise the standard and visibility of its competitions.
For the participating nations, the agreement brings tangible logistical benefits that could ease the demands of travel and coordination, especially during tightly packed tournament schedules.
It also ensures enhanced exposure for African football through coordinated branding and marketing efforts tied to the airline’s extensive network.
As CAF continues its preparations for these upcoming tournaments, the deal with Royal Air Maroc is likely to play a crucial role in shaping the success of African football’s calendar.
With several major nations vying for continental glory, the partnership marks a significant step towards delivering world-class tournaments that reflect the ambition and talent present across the continent.
