CAF has approved changes to its regulations allowing players to appear for more than one club in the same season of African club competitions.
The Confederation of African Football announced the amendments in an official statement, with the changes also setting out new squad registration and disciplinary procedures.
Under the revised rules, players can now represent more than one club during the same season of CAF club competitions.
Clubs will also be permitted to register a maximum of 40 players at any stage of the season. They may replace up to four players during the final registration period, provided those players have not appeared in any African club competition match.
Disciplinary matters will now be referred to the Disciplinary Committee rather than the Competitions Committee.
Four Egyptian clubs are involved in this season’s continental competitions. Zamalek and Pyramids will compete in the CAF Champions League, while Al Ahly and ZED will take part in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Zamalek are due to face the Rwandan Army in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
That match will take place at 17:00 on Friday, 16 October at Amahoro Kigali Stadium in Rwanda. The return leg is scheduled for 20:00 on Saturday, 24 October at Cairo Stadium.
Pyramids will meet Merikh Bentiu, the champions of South Sudan, in the same round.
Their first leg is scheduled for 15:30 on Friday, 16 October at Juba Stadium. The second match will be played at 20:00 on Saturday, 24 October at Air Defence Stadium.
