Burundi stun Algeria with two early goals in Africa Cup of Nations qualifier

Burundi made a remarkable start against Algeria, scoring twice in the opening 14 minutes of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The goals came during the second matchday of Group I, with Burundi taking a 2-0 lead despite Algeria controlling 71% of possession.

Fares Chaibi put the ball into his own net in the fifth minute to give Burundi the advantage. J. Girumugisha then doubled their lead seven minutes later.

Algeria, known as the Fennecs, were caught off guard by Burundi’s fast start and now face a difficult task to change the course of the match.
