Burnley head coach Scott Parker has acknowledged the impact of Lyle Foster’s absence during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The South African striker missed several weeks of Premier League action while representing Bafana Bafana in Morocco, leaving a noticeable gap in the Clarets’ attacking line.
Since his return, the 25-year-old has quickly re-established himself in Burnley’s first team.
He featured in Monday’s 3-0 defeat to Sunderland and had previously impressed in a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, scoring what appeared to be a match-winning goal before Spurs captain Cristian Romero equalised in stoppage time.
“I was pleased for Lyle,” Parker told the club website after their league game against Tottenham Hotspur.
“He made a big difference when he came on and was in the right place at the right time to score a good goal.
“We missed him when he was at AFCON. He’s a big threat.
“The subs made a really positive impact, which is hugely pleasing,” he added.
Burnley return to Premier League action on Saturday against West Ham, with Parker hoping Foster can continue to drive the team as they battle to avoid relegation.
