Burkina Faso international Ismahila Ouédraogo is on the verge of joining Danish side Odense Boldklub after Atromitos Athens reached an agreement over his transfer.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder, capped 25 times for his country, is expected to undergo a medical in Denmark on Tuesday, 26 August, before completing the move.
Once formalities are concluded, his contract will be signed and the deal officially announced.
Ouédraogo, who is tied to Atromitos until June 2027, is preparing to end his spell in Greece just a year after joining the Athens-based club.
His upcoming departure will also mark the conclusion of a three-year chapter in Greek football, during which he featured for PAOK Salonika B, Volos FC and Panserraïkós before settling at Atromitos.
Rising profile
The midfielder first made his mark at AS Douanes in Burkina Faso before moving abroad.
Trained at the KOZAF academy in Ouagadougou, he has built a reputation for his discipline, work rate and composure in defensive roles.
His performances earned him regular international recognition with Burkina Faso, where he remains a consistent figure in the national squad.
According to Transfermarkt, Ouédraogo’s market value currently stands at €700,000.
His move to Odense will introduce him to a third European league, following his experiences in Greece and Burkina Faso’s domestic competition.
A new challenge in Denmark
The switch to Odense Boldklub offers Ouédraogo an opportunity to continue his development in the Danish Superliga, a league known for its physical demands and platform for players to progress to Europe’s top tiers.
For Odense, the acquisition of a player with both international pedigree and European experience is seen as a significant reinforcement in midfield as they look to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.
The transfer is expected to be finalized swiftly once the medical is complete, with Ouédraogo eager to embark on the next chapter of his career.
